Menstruation and traditions
Many cultures have beliefs about menstruation. It’s possible that some of these beliefs exist in your culture and that you can’t take part in community life during your period. Originally, these beliefs were made to allow women to rest during this time, when they have less energy.
Under the right conditions, it’s an ideal time to rest, reflect and create.
You can even take advantage of it to study quietly and read all day.
Of course, if you feel unsafe or unwell, either physically or psychologically, talk to someone you trust or a health professional.
If there’s no tradition of stopping your usual activities but you feel the need to do so, try to take some time out as soon as possible. It will do you a lot of good.
If, on the other hand, you feel like doing some activities or sport, go ahead! Just remember to rest a little more than usual.
Don’t forget that your menstrual blood is normal and a sign of good health. Menstruation is also the least fertile period of the cycle.
